Charging boosters for trucks - maximum energy for rest periods
Experience an intelligent solution for your truck battery with our charging booster. During the legally prescribed rest periods, your battery always remains charged between 90 and 100 percent – without having to leave the engine running.
Why the charging booster for trucks is so ingenious: a simple principle with great benefits
“Our solution makes it possible to provide continuous power during the legally prescribed break – without having to start the truck engine” and to fully charge the LKLW batteries to 95% while driving ….sothe inventor.
As the specified temperature window must be maintained during temperature-controlled transportation, the coolers have their own power supply (diesel or electric). These must continue to run even when stationary so that the set value is maintained – and that’s the trick: if the Cool Liner is supplied with power anyway, why shouldn’t the driver’s cab also benefit from this?
This has enabled us to leave out the truck engine and only the cooling unit is still running because it has to run anyway.
The charging booster is a clever, simple solution that combines the energy requirements of refrigerated transportation with the truck’s power requirements. It taps excess energy from the refrigeration unit and feeds it directly into the truck battery. This technology ensures a constant power supply and makes it possible for the truck to have sufficient energy without the engine running.
What is a charging booster?
A charging booster ensures that the truck’s battery remains at a constantly high charge level of between 90 and 100 percent during idle times – without consumers switching off, which is why the engine previously had to run unnecessarily. A clever technology feeds surplus energy generated during operation of the cooling unit into the truck battery. This keeps the truck ready for operation at all times, without any diesel consumption or unnecessary emissions.
Compatible with cool liners
The charging booster was specially developed for Cool-Liner vehicles. These trailers or refrigerated boxes are equipped with a cooling unit that must be operated in start/stop or continuous mode in order to maintain the specified cooling temperature. The charging booster uses the energy that is already generated by the operation of the cooling unit and feeds it into the vehicle battery. This solution is particularly effective for trucks that are regularly used for refrigerated transportation. It works for local and long-distance transport!
A solution is available ex works for new Krone vehicles with a cooling unit, so that it can even be included in the financing or leasing.
Function and technology of the charging booster
During the journey, the vehicle’s alternator is specifically decoupled in order to save fuel, as manufacturers have to comply with fleet consumption. As a result, the truck batteries are no longer charged to 100%. In addition, the truck batteries go into consumer protection shutdown at approx. 30% residual power so that the engine can still be started. In this case, the engine of the radiator supports the function of the truck’s alternator and provides additional power. This works not only when the vehicle is stationary, but also while driving to fully charge the vehicle batteries.
Integration into the
Cool-Liner
The charging booster uses sophisticated technology to automatically charge the truck’s battery during rest periods without leaving the engine running. At the heart of this technology is the integration of the Cool-Liner’s electrical system into the truck, which has to be operated continuously anyway to ensure the selected temperature setting. The charging booster directs the excess energy generated during operation of the Cool-Liner into the vehicle battery.
The key: the
NATO socket
By using a NATO socket, the excess energy from the Cool-Liner is transferred to the truck system. A special control system ensures that this energy is effectively and efficiently fed into the truck’s battery. A charging charger is used to ensure that the entire charging process runs smoothly and safely. This technology ensures that the truck’s battery always remains in the optimum charging range while driving or resting. In the future, there will be an app for the driver that displays all the values of the charging process.
Priority circuit as a connecting element
The charging booster works with a so-called priority circuit, which ensures that the excess energy only flows into the battery when it is not required for the operation of the Cool-Liner. As soon as the Cool-Liner is in operation, the charge booster uses the surplus energy generated and feeds it into the truck’s battery. This priority circuit enables the battery to be charged continuously and automatically without the truck’s engine having to be running. This works on the road, but also when the trailer is plugged into a 360-volt socket and connected to the truck.
The advantages of the loading booster for your truck fleet
Relaxed rest periods for drivers - without engine running noise
The charging booster makes it possible to operate all on-board functions such as the refrigerator, heating or air conditioning during rest periods without the engine having to run. This means that truck drivers can enjoy their rest periods in comfort – without the annoying noise or vibrations of a running engine.
Lower diesel consumption and CO₂ emissions
As the charge booster uses the energy from the cooling unit and the engine does not have to run constantly, diesel consumption is significantly reduced. This has the advantage that operating costs are minimized operating costs are minimized, unnecessary heat generation is reduced, so that noise pollution is also reduced. But diesel consumption and the associated CO₂ emissions can be significantly reduced. An environmentally friendly solution that is also economical and offers great added value for drivers.
Simple retrofitting for Cool-Liner
The integration of the charging booster into existing Cool-Liner–vehicles is extremely simple. No complex conversions are necessary, making it a cost-effective and quick solution for haulage companies who want to retrofit their vehicles sustainably and efficiently.
Eligible for subsidies - benefit from government grants
The charging booster is eligible for subsidies and can be supported by government grants as part of environmental and safety programs. Companies that invest in environmentally friendly technologies can be reimbursed for part of their costs – an additional benefit for haulage companies that want to bring their fleet up to date at low cost.

BALM's environmental protection and safety support program: support for the charging booster
The charging booster is not only a technical innovation, but also an economical solution that is supported by government subsidy programs.
BALM’s environmental protection and safety funding program specifically supports measures that improve energy efficiency and CO₂ reduction in the logistics sector. The loading booster is ideally suited to this program, as it reduces diesel consumption and offers an environmentally friendly solution at the same time.
Driver voices
“Lack of sleep is a huge issue in our profession. This increases the risk of accidents. Everything is fine during the journey, but as soon as it’s time to rest for the day, the stress begins. Without the parking cooler running, it’s almost impossible to sleep – and after a few hours the battery is flat.”
“It was particularly brutal during the hot summer weeks: over 35 degrees outside and up to 60 degrees inside the cab. Of course you leave the air conditioning running – but then at some point the battery is flat. Then all you can do is keep the engine running – which disturbs other drivers who need their rest time.”

What is the Negus Comfort Booster and how does it work?
The Negus Comfort Booster ensures that the truck’s battery automatically remains at a charge level of 90 to 100 percent during rest periods – without the engine having to be running. The excess energy from the refrigeration unit is used to charge the truck’s battery, making the charging booster an efficient and sustainable solution for the energy supply.
What advantages does the charging booster offer truck drivers?
With the charging booster, truck drivers can enjoy their rest periods undisturbed without having to worry about their vehicle’s battery. All on-board functions such as the refrigerator, heating and air conditioning continue to run during rest periods – without having to keep the engine running. This means less noise, lower diesel consumption and a higher quality of life on the road.
Which trucks are compatible with the charging booster?
The Negus Comfort Booster is especially suitable for Cool-Liner vehicles that have a cooling unit. These vehicles are ideal for using the charging booster, as they constantly require power to operate the cooling units. The charge booster uses this surplus energy to charge the truck battery during rest periods.
How does the charging booster help to reduce diesel consumption?
The charging booster makes it possible to charge the truck’s battery with surplus energy from the cooling unit during idle times instead of keeping the engine running. This significantly reduces diesel consumption, as the engine does not have to run unnecessarily to charge the battery. This reduction in diesel consumption leads to cost savings and also helps to reduce CO₂ emissions.
Can the charging booster be supported by state subsidy programs?
Yes, the charge booster is in many cases eligible for government funding programs for environmentally friendly vehicle retrofits. These subsidies help companies to reduce the cost of the charge booster and make their truck fleets more environmentally friendly and efficient.
